for fellow austins and the rest of texas

    fuck ERCOT

Don’t use a gas oven to heat your home or run your car in the garage

Carbon monoxide kills you so quick. Please all do not do this.

Drip both hot and cold on all faucets + open the cupboards that house the pipes because if you don’t your pipes will burst and you’ll have massive flooding.

I’m bringing this around again because it’s getting cold in some places and I’ve been getting things to prepare for if we get another freeze in a few months. Since then, the official death toll of the freeze sits at 210, while Buzzfeed reported in May that the true count is likely much higher— around 700. It also caused one of the worst mass carbon monoxide poisonings in recent US history.

I have very little faith that Governor Abbott has done “all that needs to be done” to protect the grid and it’s weighing on me as we get closer to winter.

    “I’m much happier at 53 than I was at 23.” (x)

i love you guillermo del totoro

[ID: Four gifs of Guillermo del Toro in an interview. He says, “I think the sublime confusion is from 19 to 29. You think you are late for everything, you’re a has-been, nothing is happening, there’s no opportunity for you, the world is closed, everything is a disaster, you wanna die. And then you’re 30.” /end ID]

Which translates to “You young people are in the exact age of desperation. I never felt more done and old than in my twenties. I’d say ‘life has passed me by and i did nothing’. But i’m here to tell you that’s not true: you have a lot of fucking time”

this is cool but why is it shot like the intro credits of a crime drama

…Dessert,  but shot like Murder.  I think I’ve found my favorite aesthetic ever.

    …hell yes.

When will this end? When will our children be able to live without fear of being criminalized for simply existing?

[ID: Tweet by @/taniel. “When a 6-year old is dragged to court for picking a tulip. Read the North Carolina story: https://journalnow.com/north-carolina-sends-6-year-olds-to-court-why-some-say-its-time-for-change/article_e2a15a82-8383-11eb-91ee-43ce7c88753b.html”

Screenshot of the article linked above that reads, “The 6-year-old dangled his legs above the floor as he sat at the table with his defense attorney, before a North Carolina judge. He was accused of picking a tulip from a yard at his bus stop, his attorney Julie Boyer said, and he was on trial in juvenile court for injury to real property. The boy’s attention span was too short to follow the proceedings, Boyer said, so she handed him crayons and a coloring book.”

Retweet by @/DearDean22. “He was arrested for picking a tulip while he waited for the bus. Someone called the police on a 6 year old Black boy because he picked a flower. The police arrested him. He had to go to court w/ a criminal defense attorney who gave him a coloring book to sit still. We are hated.” End ID.]

What people think this means “I’ll use this as an excuse to do whatever I want all day instead of committing to other things that need to be done”

What it actually means “I’ll be obsessively checking the clock all day because I’m constantly worried I’ll be late if I don’t. I also worry that if I commit to doing anything else important that day it’ll distract me from the time and I’ll miss the appointment. This will be a day filled with anxiety and in no way relaxing until the appointment is over with"

I only made it halfway through.

She creates more content like this on tiktok and they’re hilarious but it’s also so painful to watch. I even lowkey started to hate seeing her because of how accurate it is. But then I saw this comment in one of her videos and it really made me think
